What is tertiary education?

Tertiary Education is the term used to describe all forms of education that comes after completing secondary education. The official definition of the term is; “Tertiary education is formal, non-compulsory education that follows secondary education”.

One of the aspects of tertiary education is the fact that (in most cases) it is not compulsory, unlike secondary education which in most cases is compulsory.

Perhaps the most important part of tertiary education are the universities. However, there are other organizations that provide tertiary education like colleges, training centers, laboratories.

Tertiary education is considered to be very important as it provides the necessary skills for survival in our modern society. Quality of life improves with higher level education.
